What's the deal with the bunny and his eggs?:
Many people ask, including myself,WTF does eggs and bunnies have to do with the resurrection of Jesus Christ?Well here is one MYTH:The tradition of Easter was actually of Pagan descent, surprise, surprise!Yet another custom stolen by Christianity, along with Halloween! Yes I know,"true christians" don't allow thier kids to trick or treat, instead they go to church, play some games and get a grab bag full of oranges and other crap.Which to me is pretty lame.If you're gonna celebrate a tradition that did not come from your religion then atleast go all the way, don't half-ass it and try to make it your own..The Pagans believed that hallow's eve was the only night that demons could walk freely with us so they wore masks to hide their identity. They carved faces into pumpkins to try to scare the demons away. They would mingle, with other pagans only I'm sure since anyone that wasn't wanted to burn them at the stake, lol, and exchange goodies such as freshly baked bread, cookies, etc. That makes sense,if I thought demons were roaming freely I'd want some comfort food to.So I guess that's where trick or treating comes from. Now let me clarify,I have nothing against christians(love you liza!),just the background of christianity. My only beef with it is the part where they killed anyone believed to be a witch ,even if they knew it wasn't true and that people were realizing,"hey if i say that bitch i hate is a witch, they'll kill her!"Christianity isn't as violent now a days, instead they have the Bill O'Reilly's and George W's to do their dirty work. These two guys are trying to tell us what's "christian" and moral. One being an egotistical pervert and the other is a complete moron who was snorting coke off a hookers tit not more then 10 yrs ago! That is my major beef with it all,,hypocrits. They smile in church or on camera for us..telling us what WE are doing wrong, all the while knowing they are no better, and some quite worse then us!But anyway, getting waayyy off subject here!

Around the 8th century, an English scholar named St.Bede, proposed this theory.
The term Easter comes from "Eastre," the Goddess of mythology signifying spring and fertility, whose festival,in Pagan times, was celebrated on the day of the vernal equinox.
Christian churches in the west celebrate on the 1st Sunday following the full moon that occurs on or following the spring equinox-thus explaining why every year around mid-march we're all thinking,"when the fuck is Easter this year?"O.k.,so that explains the name and the day chosen for celebration. Now for the bunny and his eggs.

In the Pagan religion the rabbit is a symbol of fertility, along with the egg(for obvious reasons)
They painted the eggs bright colors to represent the sun and spring,a time of re-birth.Just like how Jesus was reborn(makin some sense now?).So to make their traditon more festive, they would play games with the colorful eggs or give them as gifts. Now I know you're probably thinking, why would pagans celebrate the resurrection of jesus since they didnt believe in him, well they didn't.They were celebrating spring, and since even christians see the connection between spring and re-birth I guess they thought it made sense to them. They have this tendency to take from other religions and put the christian stamp on it,lol. So that my friends is the best explaination I've come across on what seems like a completely rediculous tradition.I now have a little more respect for it,but I still hate how places like Wal-mart make a bagillion $ every year off of it,just like every other holiday! Our kids get a basket usually containing some kind of crappy toy and some candy, along with that wonderful fake grass that sticks to EVERYTHING!They play with their toy for the whole day that it remains in tact, eat thier candy and never really know the origin of Easter. So this yr maybe some of you will not only take them to church on easter sunday but can maybe also give them some history on why because Jesus died they get an easter basket from a bunny, lol.

Hope this has clarified a few things for some of you, although let me say again this is just a MYTH, I never state my beliefs as fact. But hey, makes sense to me!

HAPPY EASTER!!!
